Intervention Process

Invitational Intervention is always initiated by a concerned family member, friend, or co-worker who contacts us seeking help for an addicted loved one. It is a gradually escalating, invitational approach to motivate an addicted individual to enter and engage in treatment and to gain a commitment from the family and friends to work together for a minimum of a year toward this goal.

The process begins with a 20 to 30 minute free "First Call." During this call, the First Call Staff Person coaches and empowers the concerned family member to mobilize the entire family and support system as an Intervention Network. The goals of the First Call are to:

As a result of the First Call, the Interventionist will call back within 2 days to follow up to provide additional support and schedule the First Meeting.

At that First Meeting, the Interventionist will facilitate the family and friends in assuring the addicted loved one that the entire family needs to heal, and the addicted loved one is not expected to do this alone.

If the addicted individual did not attend the First Meeting, or did not commit to enter into alcohol or drug treatment, the family and friends will continue to meet (inviting the addicted loved one each time) for 1 to 5 additional sessions over 2 months. During these sessions motivational strategies are developed by the group to overcome objections previously raised by the addicted person and to show unity to obtain a solution in a resolute and loving way.

If the addicted loved one has still not committed to enter into treatment by the end of this second phase, the addicted loved one and the entire Intervention Network of family and friends will meet for one final Formal Intervention. At this formal session, the addicted loved one is again invited to enter into treatment or the final limit settings are reinforced. Note that fewer than 2% of families ever have to enter into this third level of intervention. The power of the family Intervention Network and invitational approach to Intervention is amazingly strong in the first few meetings and over 80% of addicted individuals participate in treatment options very early in the process.

We at Compass Interventions encourage you to participate in the Invitational Intervention process to end the cycle of addiction that has held your family back from having true happiness together.

Drug abuse, alcohol abuse, substance abuse, alcoholism & intervention - these are all very emotionally charged subjects. None of us like to think that someone we love has a problem with addiction. Sadly the chances of an alcoholic or addict entering into rehab (a treatment center) or getting other help alone is not likely. This is where Family Intervention comes in -- They are not alone anymore.

For the sake of your whole family, call Compass Interventions at 1.855.200.HOPE (4673) and allow us to help your loved one begin a journey toward a new life.
